We rang out 2019 two days ago and New Year's Eve always brings this old Barry Manilow song to mind:
"It's just another New Year's Eve,
Another night like all the rest.
It's just another New Year's Eve,
Let's make it the best.
It's just another New Year's Eve,
It's just another Auld Lang Syne,
But when we're through this New Year
You'll see, we'll be
Just fine."
The message in this semi-sad, semi-positive song embodies how many of us feel as we say goodbye to one year and look toward the next. Often we wonder how the year went so quickly, how our kids grew up so much in such a short time or how on earth we will ever find time to do all the things we need to do in the new year. Possibly one of the most important things we can learn from this old classic NYE tune is found in this line, "But when we're through this New Year You'll see, we'll be just fine." In the long run, things usually turn out "just fine." Let's remember to make time for the people we love, to make time for friends and family, to enjoy walking the dog or snuggling with the cat, and let's all make time for vacation. Time away with loved ones brings us closer together, forms strong bonds, and creates lifetime memories. As we usher in 2020 book that trip to the ocean, or the mountains or wherever your heart desires....and wherever you go remember to make it the best because before you know it we will be saying goodbye to 2020 and running full steam into 2021. And once it again it will be "Just another New Year's Eve."
